Core Link has been awarded a combined contract by Metsä Board for new sleeve handling and roll handling systems, to secure the planned production increase for BM1 at Metsä Board Husum.

‘The planned production increase from 400,000 to 600,000 tonnes / year will create various interesting challenges for the roll and sleeve handling systems. With our experience, expertise and in close collaboration with the project team at Metsä Board Husum, we have succeeded in designing reliable and cost-effective systems to meet these challenges’.
The sleeve handling system contains a CL4090, a high-capacity sleeve with a double sleeve robot for mother sleeves and a sleeve transport system that delivers mother sleeves to an existing Core Link sleeve.
Core Link will also supply an automatic sleeve plug and sleeve transport system for two rolling machines.
The roll handling system includes, but is not limited to; rebuilding of the existing roll handling system with the aim of increasing and optimizing capacity, a new roll handling line between the new roll machine and the existing roll handling system, an automatic intermediate storage for reels and “Loadmate”, Core Link’s system for automatic loading of reels.

The machine installations will begin during Q4 2022 and last until the end of 2023.
