ECOFARIO Founders Receive Bavarian State Medal for Outstanding Environmental Achievements. The Bavarian State Ministry honours Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Porkert and Adrian Scholl for pioneering innovations in sustainable water purification and circular economy technologies.
This week, the founders of ECOFARIO GmbH, Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Porkert and Adrian Scholl, were awarded the Bayerische Staatsmedaille für herausragende Verdienste um die Umwelt 2025 (Bavarian State Medal for Outstanding Environmental Achievements).
The medals were personally presented by Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber, MdL, in a ceremony held at the Max-Joseph-Saal of the Munich Residenz, celebrating individuals and organizations whose work has made a lasting contribution to environmental protection and sustainability.
Both founders were recognized for their groundbreaking development of ECOFARIO’s filterless High-G separation technology. The innovation enables industries—especially in the paper and wastewater sectors—to recover valuable resources, reduce pollutants, and significantly cut microplastic emissions. Their work exemplifies how technological ingenuity and entrepreneurial commitment can drive measurable environmental progress.
“Receiving this honour is a tremendous recognition of our joint vision,” said Dr. Porkert. “At ECOFARIO, we aim to empower industries to operate sustainably while safeguarding our most essential resource: water.”
Co-founder Adrian Scholl added: “This award reflects not only our technological achievements but also the shared responsibility we all have to make industry cleaner and more circular.”
The Bavarian State Medal is among the highest environmental distinctions awarded by the State of Bavaria. The recognition of both founders underlines ECOFARIO’s key role in advancing sustainable industrial practices and in setting new benchmarks for the circular economy in Germany and beyond.
