- Flex Asepto Egypt selects ABB lab solution for advanced packaging production facility
- Customer selects ABB’s lab testing instruments and Lab Management System for its new aseptic liquid packaging plant in Egypt
- Largest ABB lab instrumentation package delivered to Egypt, supporting Asepto’s regional expansion across the Middle East and Africa
ABB has won an order from Flex Asepto Egypt, a subsidiary of Asepto and part of the UFlex Group, for its L&W laboratory testing instruments and dedicated digital solution for the laboratory, the L&W Lab Management System. The technologies will support Asepto’s new aseptic liquid manufacturing plant in Egypt, enabling digitalized, high-performance quality management as the company expands its reach across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
As Asepto gears up to launch operations from its Sokhna facility – set to become one of the most advanced aseptic liquid packaging plants in the world – ABB’s technologies will help ensure the highest quality standards across a wide range of end uses, from dairy and dairy-based beverages to juice, nectars and premium drinks. By supporting Asepto’s 3P’s of Packaging – Preserve, Protect and Promote – ABB’s integrated solution will combine intelligent lab data management with productivity-focused KPIs to help improve packaging performance. This, in turn, will contribute to maintaining product freshness, meeting strict safety requirements and upholding strong brand presentation.
The order marks another significant deployment of the L&W Lab Management System outside of a traditional paper mill, highlighting its growing relevance for paper converters in the packaging sector. ABB’s instruments have already been in successful use at Asepto’s Sanand plant in India for over eight years, demonstrating proven reliability and performance.
“ABB’s L&W instruments have long been a trusted part of our existing operations in India, helping us maintain the highest benchmarks in quality,” said Mr Ashwani K Sharma, President & CEO, Liquid Packaging Business UFlexLtd. “For our new Egypt facility, we needed a solution that not only ensures reliability but also supports digitalization goals. ABB’s Lab Management System met that requirement, giving us greater insight and control over our lab performance.”
ABB’s L&W Lab Management System automatically captures sample measurements from connected lab equipment and converts them into intuitive dashboards and real-time reports. This empowers plant operators with actionable insights, improves lab efficiency and supports continuous quality and productivity gains – vital in ensuring Asepto can continue delivering sustainable, high-quality packaging that supports the evolving needs of the world’s markets.
“This project demonstrates how ABB’s digital lab solutions are enabling quality assurance and operational excellence not only in pulp and paper mills, but also in adjacent industries like liquid packaging,” said Wilson Monteiro, Global Business Line Manager, Pulp, Paper & Fiber at ABB’s Process Industries division. “We are proud to support Asepto in their expansion into Egypt and look forward to deepening our presence across the Middle East and Africa.”
This milestone win highlights ABB’s role in delivering intelligent project solutions that align with industry demands for digital transformation and stringent quality control. With a broader focus on paper converters and growing momentum in emerging markets, ABB continues to position its L&W offerings as the standard for reliable, data-driven lab performance.
