AFT (Aikawa Fiber Technologies) is pleased to announce a successful tissue optimization project at Partex Tissue Limited, part of the Partex Star Group, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Partex Tissue Limited operates a 100 TPD tissue plant focused on producing hygienic tissue products for the domestic market using fully European machinery and modern production lines. The company positions itself as a premium, high-hygiene local alternative to imported brands.
The tissue plant was experiencing challenges related to paper strength and refining efficiency for both long and short fibers. The mill was operating two double disc refiners and one deflaker in the refining line, resulting in suboptimal performance and energy usage.
To address these challenges with a cost-effective approach, AFT proposed the installation of a MaxEdge™ refiner, equipped with the patented Finebar® refiner segments, enabling combined refining of hardwood and softwood fibers. Commissioning was successfully completed in early March 2026.

The project delivered clear and measurable value to the mill. Higher strength targets were successfully achieved while significantly reducing the proportion of long fiber. This was accomplished in an energy-efficient manner, essentially maintaining the same energy level—by fully shutting down one refiner. Based on current performance, the customer expects a payback period of less than one year.
