The challenge
Metsä Tissue, one of the leading manufacturers of tissue papers in Europe and greaseproof papers worldwide, aimed to enhance efficiency and harmonize its operations and production processes across its mills in Europe through the modernization of its IT environment.
The solution
The modernization is based on TIPS Industry Solutions & Services (TIPS), a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). TIPS bridges the gap between the customer’s current Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) and mill-specific automation by providing a harmonized system designed for the tissue industry’s order-to-cash process. The system provides full traceability of fibre materials for tissue machines to converted tissue end products to enable reliable cost tracking in production. The system enables the customer to improve sustainability through energy consumption reporting and with online quality management throughout the production process.
