ANDRITZ to supply complete pulp mill to Paracel S.A., Paraguay

International technology group ANDRITZ and Paracel S.A., Paraguay, have signed a contract under which ANDRITZ is to supply all process equipment and energy-efficient and environmentally friendly pulp production equipment for Paracel’s 1.8 million ton/year pulp mill to be built in Concepción, Paraguay.

ANDRITZ will supply all equipment on an EPC basis. The order value for ANDRITZ will be more than 1.5 billon US dollars. The contract is expected to be booked during 2023.

Paracel is planning to produce 1.8 million MT/year in the pulp mill project in Concepción, Paraguay, with forestry assets of 185 000 ha of land owned by the Company. The Company was founded on November 12th in 2018 and has since then planted more than 17000 ha of forestry, completed design of the mill, received the construction permit for the mill, completed environmental and social impact assessments, conducted significant ground works on the mill site, completed documentation for the CO2 sequestration and established the action plans for the conservation project for native forests & the social programs.

The selection of the process equipment supplier is a key milestone in the project. The work with the competing suppliers has been ongoing for more than 2 years, using the highest criteria for sustainability, health and safety and productivity over time.

ANDRITZ was selected thanks to their state-of-the-art technology, excellent delivery reputation, regional knowledge and comprehensive delivery scope under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) modality.
